Burkina Faso, officially known as Burkina Faso, is a landlocked country in West Africa. It shares borders with six countries: Mali to the north and west, Niger to the east, Benin to the southeast, Togo and Ghana to the south, and Côte d'Ivoire to the southwest. The country covers approximately 274,200 km², making it slightly larger than its West African neighbor Senegal. Burkina Faso has a population of around 23 million people (2025), with the majority residing in rural areas, though urbanization is steadily increasing.

The capital and largest city is Ouagadougou, located in the center of the country. It serves as the nation's administrative, economic, and cultural center. Bobo-Dioulasso, in the southwest, is the second-largest city and an important economic hub.
